The Lot. 108 Shirt takes its cues from post-war Italian collar shirts that became popular at resorts during the economic boom of the 1950s. Distinguished by a collar line that curves more deeply than a standard open collar, the style was designed to capture a sense of ease and leisure before T-shirts had entered resort culture.

This version carries forward that relaxed refinement in a fabric unlike any other. Crafted from a cotton-rayon kasuri-patterned base, the cloth has been hand-painted with sumi ink in collaboration with artisans inspired by the marbling works of Kamisoe, a traditional karakami workshop in Kyoto. Each brushstroke is applied by hand in the style of Yuzen dyeing, meaning no two shirts are alike. The subtle variations in shading and movement make every piece one of a kind.

Characterized by the opening curvier than open collar shirts, it was a perfect item to look relaxed when T-shirts were still not part of the resort culture.
Inspired by marbling works created with sumi ink by Kamisoe, a karakami workshop based in Kyoto, we hand-painted our original kasuri-patterned cotton- rayon fabric with sumi ink to capture the subtle nuances of brushstrokes crafted by a Yuzen dyeing artisan. Each piece is truly one of a kind, as the hand-drawn brushstrokes and variations in shading differ slightly from item to item.
